Scope:
Digital convergence is a propensity of unrelated emerging technologies to converge and yield advanced engineering products or solutions. Currently, AI, IoT, Big data Analytics, cloud computing, Blockchain, robotics and automation, AR/VR etc. are the emerging ICT based technologies in the cyber aspects of the cyber-physical systems(CPS) while smart functional materials, free space optics, sensor fusion, additive manufacturing, renewables, smart mobility, sustainable building materials etc. are the emerging physical aspects of CPS. The state-of-the-art engineered products already prove that the convergence of the cyber world with physical world has already started and is accelerating towards building better CPS systems such as autonomous cars, block chain based smart grids, AI enabled manufacturing automation to name a few. Such digital convergence also raises new challenges such as data security issues in ubiquitously deployed IoT motes, privacy issues in connected vehicles etc.
The objective of the book series - Digital Convergence in Engineering Systems is to discuss the trends of these emerging technologies, the opportunities and the threats as well as proposed inventive solutions, methods, algorithms and protocols. The scope of this book is to help the reader to understand existing convergence in CPS and create new products or solutions.
